2025 – A Positive Start

Do you notice how the beginning of a new year tends to carry with it more hope? More expectation? More positivity? More anticipation?

Why do you think that is? I guess there is just something about starting something new.

Why are we more prone to drag our feet and feel worn out at the end of the year? Well I know there are many times I have felt that way at the end of December. I know there are many different reasons for that. December can really take the stuffing out of us.

We crave hope, refreshment and something new. There is just something about the idea of closing off an old year and starting a fresh one. Turning the page. In reality it doesn’t always magically work that way, but we cling to these ideas don’t we?

The idea of ending something and starting over, a clean slate, new chapter, whatever you want to call it. It’s such an attractive idea.

Why do we limit starting over or feeling hopeful to the beginning of a new year? Well, maybe that’s only me. Maybe you aren’t this way and can’t relate to any of this that I am saying. If you aren’t that way friend, that is great. You aren’t so closed in this box that we so frequently put ourselves in.

Honestly hope can be contagious. The good kind of contagious. I want to be that kind of person. Someone who spreads hope about what is ahead to those around me. I know that if I share hope with others, I can’t help but feel more hope for all parts of my life too. If I can share hope with others in my life, I can also spread hope to different aspects of my life and not keep it contained or so boxed in. I’m fully on board with that kind of contagion. Aren’t you?

So friend I wish to encourage you to look towards the upcoming year with hope. Like so many other things, choosing this might be tougher for you. Yet, like most of the things in our lives, it is a choice. Our choice. No one can choose this for us.

You can choose it and I can choose it. Choose to have hope. That doesn’t mean that magically all difficult things are forgotten or removed. Oh no friend, it doesn’t mean that at all. But you can choose how you see things, how you face things and how you move forward.

I thought I would see how many times I could use the words choose and choice to not so subtly get my point across. Hope it worked!!

HOPE! I encourage you to find hope and to choose hope in 2025. I am not saying it will be easy for you, oh no, but it is always a very worthwhile pursuit.

Friend, I am praying for you as you journey forward into the new year. To find hope in the days ahead no matter what has happened in 2024.
