Have you done much travelling? It doesn’t necessarily need to be going across the globe to a far away place. It could just maybe going to the country next door and exploring.
Do you enjoy travel? Seeing new places and finding new things?
Travelling and seeing different places and new cultures have so many benefits for us.
We get to learn new things, which impacts our brains. But it also expands our lives. We can begin to think differently about things we have learned or experienced.
Learning how others live and create culture and community can be so interesting.
Travelling expands your mind and your soul.
Just exercising and opening up a new part of your brain if you are struggling through depression or anxiety could have big benefits.
I have been so blessed to have gone travelling quite a bit in my life. I have gone to Peru, Mexico, all over America including Hawaii and also quickly popped over to Paris.
Each one of these travels have opened my eyes up to so many new ideas, things and people. My life has been better because of every single trip.
There are many people that may only think of travelling in one way. Going far away and going in to another country. While that is absolutely one type of travel, but there are other ones for sure.
Taking short day trips somewhere can be really fun. I am privileged to live in a very large province. It’s a province that has 35 provincial parks and two National parks. 100,000 lakes and rivers. All within 651,900 km2. I would say that is quite big with a lot of room for adventure.
Some would consider travel an essential human activity. How about you? Do you agree? While some may disagree, I absolutely think it’s a fundamental human activity.
There are some who are really quite happy to just stay in their own community and not go anywhere else. While I really don’t understand that, I hope we can agree that everyone has the freedom to want to travel, or not want to travel anywhere at all.
So how does travel help you? There are so many health benefits. These include improving mental health, helping with your heart health, reducing stress, increasing happiness, and so many more great things.
One other important part of travelling is who you travel with. It does matter who you go with to determine how good the trip can be. But that isn’t the only important thing. If you have someone or a group that wants to do the same things as you that can be critical. But also having someone who lovingly pushes you to do new things and see new places you might not have on your own, can be all a part of the fun too.
So friend, even if you would consider yourself a world traveller already, or have a bucket list ready to be checked off, I will pray that you follow your adventurous heart and seek new experiences an hour away from home or all the way across the world. Whether your desire is to seek out every dusty museum or spend the day on a beautiful beach, I encourage you to pursue your next destination.
