Health can be a catch all kind of term. Which isn’t necessarily wrong. But when we think about our own health and what impacts our own health, we can be more narrow minded or restrict how we see it.
When you think about health, you probably consider the usual things or ways it comes up in our lives. Going to the doctor for a checkup, not feeling well, what food you eat, going to the gym, etc.
There are the common things to think of, which we hear about all of the time, but what about some other things that directly affect our health, that you and I might not think about nearly as much?
What if I told you that watching the flames in a campfire is good for your health?
What if I told you that listening to music can be healthy for you?
What if I told you that spending time with certain people will positively impact your health?
What if I told you that laughing so hard your face hurts can be so good for you?
What if I told you that reading a book, a physical book, has so many positive benefits?
What if I told you that watching the same movie or tv show you have watched over and over, once again can be healthy?
There might be some of you who are tracking with me on this already, and there are likely some of who aren’t quite there yet.
Quite honestly everything we do in every moment will have an impact on our health. For the good or for the bad. Wow! If we reduce our thinking to only consider exercise and what we eat when thinking about our health, we are missing out on most of the picture.
Everything we expose ourselves to every day, put into our bodies or what we think about in every moment will impact our lives, our health and whether it improves it or reduces it.
So as usual friends, I want to ask a few questions and help you to think bigger, think outside the normal and to be more informed.
Do you know that watching a campfire and listening to the sound of waves or moving water calms your nervous system and helps you think through things?
Laughing so hard you hurt is a great way to lower cortisol levels and also give you a fun way to build muscle in your core. It releases a lot of tension.
One of the most important things in our lives, that can determine our health so much, are the people in our lives, the people we spend a lot of time with. If you are around difficult people or people you have conflict with, it will absolutely impact your health. And if you spend time with people who you are close with, and they make you feel safe, it can be so good for your health.
We all deal with negative thoughts. This can be one of the least discussed choices we make to determine our personal health. What we choose to think about will have a huge impact on our mental health and our physical health. It can keep us in a continual state of stress, nerves and high cortisol or keep these things balanced and in a healthy place. All just from what we think. Kind of incredible right?
Friend, I mention these things because I am amazed at how many people don’t know, realize, consider or forget that all of our choices impact our health. All that we surround ourselves with each and every day, will impact our health for the good or bad. It definitely includes exercise and food, but it’s so much more than that.
So friend I pray that you think about these things as you live your life each day. I pray that you make any changes that you can or feel you need to, in order to improve your health. I can’t tell you what to do, or how to change, that will be a personal decision for each of you.
I am rooting for you!
